Bio (and my journey)

My personal journey began in 1997. I had just graduated college and found myself not only anxious (and jobless!) but also in very poor physical health. Having survived the previous four years on two meals a day in the university cafeteria, I was malnourished and it showed; at 5’9” and 110 lbs, I resembled not the star student but rather a starved prisoner.

Beyond being malnourished, I also smoked cigarettes -- a pack or more a day. Suffering a chronic cough, I continued to light up. And when it came time to sleep, a ritual normally reserved for resting the mind and recuperating the body, the insult to my health merely continued. Staying up late and averaging 5 hours of sleep a night was the norm. And during my waking hours, the stressing of my adrenal glands with over-consumption of coffee only made matters worse.

Shortly after graduating, my anxiety was lessened somewhat by securing employment.  But even while gainfully employed, I was still unhealthy and unhappy, ready to do whatever was necessary to change.

With a leap of faith, I joined a gym and began training. I knew very little about nutrition and exercise, and knew even less about where my journey was headed. And now, many years later, I feel my journey has truly come full circle.

In addition to overcoming personal struggles and improving my own health and wellness, the real journey involves educating others to overcome their struggles and improve their health and wellness.

In that regard, I embarked upon a career change in 2008, leaving engineering to work in health care. I currently manage a private medical practice and continue with my journey.
